The UK Blog Awards
When someone enquires about work through Instagram, you think ‘great’ our social media is working. And then you find out it’s to rebrand the UK Blog Awards – EPIC! Well that’s how this happened. The UK Blog Awards was to undergo a completely new identity under the brief ‘Create an Epic Identity’ for the ‘Awards’ ceremony and for the ‘Award’ accolade. We met with the owner in the beautiful surroundings of Barnsdale Lodge in Rutland to discuss the project. Buzz words such as ‘Best of’, Oscars, Influence, Represent, Drive, Aspiration and Creators began to paint the picture in our minds of how this may look for bloggers moving forward.
Of course, there was insight into the theme and suppliers to this years event in April which also added to the story of building the identity. We promise to post pictures when we attend the UK Blog Awards event in April 2018.
We wanted a friendly, professional and aspiration to be EPIC look for this project, afterall content and bloggers will shape a lot of what we do and where we are headed – a futuristic vibe maybe? We also had to consider an unbiased gender approach to be appropriate and inspiring to all. We love it, and we hope its audience agree’s that the universe is content driven and this brand identity represents content creators everywhere.

It was a dream project not only because of wonderful visionary clients but because they had faith in where I was going…and it flowed and flowed from then on in. One sunday morning I created all of the icons – hand drawn on my dining table – then turned into vectors for scalability. Fish Tank Sushi undoubtably will have a catalogue of icons by the end of this year – because I just can’t stop evolving their brand! It covers everything from the wallpaper in the restaurant to hand drawn murals on the walls, specials menus, placemats, drinks and kids menus, bento labels and so on.
So, we have the logo, the icons, the literature, signage and labels…next up website. Another vision of Sam’s to do something really different – a landscape scrolling, moving website!, Now, we’ve seen them done before – but there’s other things to consider here. Mobile optimisation mostly because of the younger audience, and getting content to work – menus, contact, maps…and a very tight deadline.
We’ll be honest here – it just worked, really it did – because the majority of FT Branding is vector, resolution isn’t an issue, and it lends itself well to the movement. Our very talented developer got this translating to mobile brilliantly and its one we are very proud of indeed…check it out
